This week, we'd love to introduce our Service Director for our Fayetteville Ford and Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM dealerships, Tre Forguson.  Tre has been an integral part of our team for years, and has taken over the role of Service Director with over 20 years of prior automotive experience to back him up as he oversees our service departments.  He hails from Ardmore, OK originally, and now lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife, four children, and one grandchild.  When I asked him what he did in his downtime, he admitted there isn't a ton of it, since he enjoys keeping busy with overseeing and making sure his service departments run as well as they possibly can.  But, when he isn't at Lewis, he enjoys spending any free time with his family and watching football.

He definitely has enough to keep him busy, with our two service departments and vehicle repair shops, fully staffed with ASE-certified technicians and knowledgeable Service Advisors that help streamline our customer experience.

Tre did offer quite a bit of insight as I was asking him about what type of services his shops will offer.  His most popular services that they complete are:

  1. Oil Changes and multi-point inspections. Ford customers can also ask for 'the Works' which includes: a synthetic blend oil change, belts and hoses check, tire rotation and pressure check, filter check, vehicle checkup, battery test, and fluid top-off.

  1. Warranty maintenance – when you buy a new (or new to you pre-owned) vehicle,  one of the ways you can keep your own piece of mind is knowing that you have a warranty that can help cover your regular or unexpected maintenance so you can keep driving and have less time and money invested in repairs.

  1. Tire changes, rotations, and/or repair – One of the most integral parts of your vehicle, besides the engine, would be your tires.  They're literally what keep you going.  We offer an experienced and knowledgeable staff that can take care of any work on your tires you'll need, whether that’s a replacement, a patch, or even just a rotation so that they can wear evenly.

I was also curious about the three most ignored areas of vehicle maintenance, that can still affect the performance and lifespan of your vehicle.  They are:

  1. Proper tire pressure – not only is it safer to keep your tires properly inflated, but it also helps to save you money in the long run on your fuel costs as well!  Under-inflated tires are scientifically shown to lower your gas mileage.

  1. Getting regular oil changes – you can also better your gas mileage by another 1-2% by using the grade of motor oil recommended by your manufacturer, and making sure to get those oil changes as recommended as well.  Old motor oil begins to lose its ability to reduce the friction in your engine, which can cause your components to break down sooner than they should.

  1. Replacing your air filter – in the same vein as the other areas above, replacing your vehicle's air filter not only increases your fuel economy and improves acceleration, but a dirty air filter will reduce the air flow to your engine.  This means that you can expect polluted spark plugs, increase your exhaust emissions, and cause your 'Service Engine' light to go on, and even small particles that go through a damaged air filter can do major and costly damage to internal engine parts.  An air filter is an easy replacement that will save you so much trouble and cost later on.
